There is no way for Freedomlist to post speeds for an ISP. I have VTISP and get 52.0 every day but a friend in town using the same dial-up number gets about 33.0. Too many things such as line connection, computer, etc. to compare.

The fasted connection speed I've ever had with them is 40,000pbs and that was only once in 8 months the rest of the times it's 31,200 or less! Today it took 3 times to get to 31,200 because they were connecting me at 18,000. At 31,000pbs it takes 3 or 4 refresh page to to get one picture to download so you can see it.

Of course they continue to say it's AT&T. AT&T says it's Basic ISP. I told Basic ISP that if it is AT&T then they should send AT&T a message that they are violating Commerce laws by blocking their customers speed that they connect with. Since Basic is being paid to provide 47,000 or more I'm not getting what I was promised by Basic ISP.

I'm feed up with all dial up services and as soon as I can I'm going to go to Wild Blue or some other satellite service. While I'm told satellite can be ify, I'd rather have ify connection then speeds so slow it's worse then when the internet first started.

I've had Net Zero, People PC, Indy Link, Earth Link and Basic ISP, AOL.

THEY ALL ***!

Freedom list may I suggest you post each ISP's connection speed. Some are at least honest enough to tell you it's a pay to play tier system. The more you pay the higher the connection speed.

I believe this is standard with all ISP's. BasicISP says that they offer unlimited residential usage and they'll check with you if you use more then 300 hours a month. That is still 10 hours every day for only $6.95 per month. What were you doing to use that much time? It doesn't sound like normal residential use. 300 hours in 18 days? I know downloading files and music at night can eat up your hours. Hope it wasn't anything illegal...

Cool

"Excessive Usage

All Service plans are prohibited from being used to provide subscriber with dedicated or constant connectivity. BasicISP.net reserves the right to immediately terminate or modify the Services of any User if BasicISP.net determines, in its sole discretion, that the User is using the Service in an excessive manner."

they can turn your account off when every they feel like it no times are specified just as they deem fit . what it comes down to is they don't want to give there customers what they advertise.
Do your self a favor if you want a hassle free service dont use this one they do not honor what they advertise.

BasicISP.net Is An Excellent, Low Cost ISP!
Granted it helps to have a clue. I would not recommend ANY low cost ISP
for the newbie or for any inexperienced users. Most users are not clueless
and this would be an excellent ISP for them. I have used it for over 2 months now. Connections are reliable, surfing with the accelerator is
acceptable, installation and configuration a breeze. Another plus is the many local numbers that are available. The only drawback I've encountered has been the 200 hour per month limit. This is more than sufficient for most users. It's just the net-heads might need another 50-100 more. All being said; it is great and I would recommend it to all.

Give me a break!! For a dollar? Let it go!! If you want your dollar back, send them a $0.39 stamp + $0.02 for an envelope + $3.00 dollars for their check fee + $2.00 for their time processing your refund. Once they get a check for $5.41, you will get your dollar back!!! You do the math!!

I tried BasicISP.net. I couldn't view any pages at first, but found a fix on their website. I had tried calling them, but got put on hold forever. I emailed support, got no reply for hours. Connection was a slow 26 bps. I decided to cancel the same day I signed up. I emailed them, and they replied that I had to call them to cancel. So I called. They cancelled, but debated with me over whether or not I had actually waited too long for tech support. I asked for a refund of my dollar sign up fee, and they refused. They said it cost them money to refund the dollar, but it cost me a dollar to try a service I could not use. I threatened a chargeback thru my credit card company, and the phone rep told me the credit card company probably wouldn't do it. Decide for yourself, but I don't consider this to be a reputable way of doing business.

The above are ALL run out of the same facility. Blazedot.net, and BasicISP.com is cheaper, but after a month or so you'll have to pay $4.95 for any call in you make for customer support. You decide...and just roll the dice!!

BasicISP is a real bargain for those people savvy enough to solve their own problems. Most ISP problems I have had in the past usually turned out to be my fault and I suspect that that is the case with the complainers and whiners who post their gripes here. This is a great basic connection without free online help after 30 days. Just like buying real estate, you need to read the fine print and do your "due diligence". I am very happy with BasicIsp and have never been overcharged and they even send an email before billing my credit card.

I attempted to install this isp on my e-machine 600 mz running ME but was unable to connect. My machine informed me it was a modem driver issue. The tech support at basic isp told me it was a hardware issue and were no help. My machine got so messed up internally that I had to reinstall the restore CD so I could back to Juno. I am using Juno still but I am not thrilled about it. They keep cutting me off if they think I've been online too long!

Basic isp is basically the pits. They tell you that they have newsgroups, but after you waste time configuring everything, there is no server present. Customer service is a real joke too. The rep that I got put me on hold for a while so he could check on the problem. When he returned, he explained how their news server is being handled by a different incompetent company and that they could never guarantee it would work anyway, nor do they promote having newsgroups in the first place. (Right)
Also if you Sign up using this link thinking you will get your first month for a $1.00, it aint ever going to happen. You will be charged $6.95 or $9.95. They will repeatedly lie to you and tell you that they charged you a dollar. Who you going to believe, them or your credit card company.
All I can say is if you sign up for this service (or lack of), good luck to you.

Hmmm... Basic does NOT say they offer newsgroups anywhere on their site. Therefore, the Customer Service rep was correct that they do NOT promote newsgroups.

Also, I did NOT experience a problem with over-billing the first month. I paid only $1.00. I've been a happy Basic customer for several months.

After they overcharge you for the first month, (supposed to be $1.00 using the provided link) they lie to you by telling you that if you file a credit card dispute against them, it will in some way damage your credit. What a joke !!
What a sad excuse for an isp.
Dont waste your time with this.

BasicISP.net does no such thing. Not only is there no required software to install, but it has a 30 day money back guarantee. If you have any questions, try calling them. They even provide FREE phone support for the first 30 days to help with any questions about their services. It sounds like this unregistered user is just trying to slam them on behalf of a competitor!

What a sad excuse for a "review"
